Meet Katie, The Heart Behind The Sconery Shop
Getting to know Katie brought a delightful insight into her business philosophy. After serving 20 years in the Air Force, she felt a divine calling to open The Sconery Shop. Her vision is more than just about serving scones; it’s rooted in a desire to create meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with special needs, particularly those like her daughter with Down Syndrome.
Reflecting on her mission, Katie shared, “Only 6% of colleges and universities offer post-secondary education opportunities for people with intellectual developmental disabilities. We want to change that.” The Sconery Shop aims to not only serve delectable treats but also to provide a supportive space where individuals can grow and thrive as they transition into adulthood.
